Quarantine Questions: Red Comet

While we're collectively going through something we probably never expected to ever experience in our lifetime, there are many ways we're processing, coping, and dealing with the unknown. Some of us may be taking the time to learn something new or perhaps picking up an old hobby we simply lost touch with. Some of us may be binge-watching all of the Netflix or Hulu shows we never seemed to have time for before. Maybe we're trying to keep active and healthy both physically and mentally with yoga, at-home workouts, meditation, cooking healthier foods, etc. The important thing to remember is we're all going through this experience together, but we all feel its impact differently. Maybe it's not the same way you're choosing to get through, but try not to judge the way others are. Most importantly, don't judge yourself. Be kind to one another. Be gentle to you.

Personally, I needed a little inspiration! There's nothing that inspires me more than music and my favorite artists. I was curious about how some of them are spending their time social distancing from the world. Disconnecting? Interacting with fans? Creating? I spoke with DJ/Producer Red Comet. He caught my attention with his absolutely breathtaking remixes on so many of my favorite songs. He's starting to put out more and more original work, too, and they're songs you simply must listen to on repeat. He has become one of my favorite melodic music producers in such a short amount of time of knowing his work. If you don't know of Red Comet yet, I promise: you want to. Don't sleep on his fire!!! Here is how he is spending his quarantine:

1. How are you holding up during these unpredictable times? A positive outlook and grateful perspective are crucial to staying grounded. How are you spending your time keeping a happy and healthy mind, body, and soul?

Red Comet: Hey there! I have been holding up pretty well. Keeping my head up during all of this. I think a huge part of keeping happy and well-minded during this time, for me, is to still keep in contact with the people I love. To be honest we should be lucky that we are now living in a world that we have the technology to keep in contact with our loved ones, especially during an event like this. On top of that, having the unlimited free time to make music or play video games is what is really keeping me happy and well-minded. And like I said, we still have tech that can let us still keep in contact with everyone, FaceTime, Zoom, discord, etc.

2. Are you turning to art and music to keep inspired? Creating it? Enjoying it? Both? What/who has helped the most?

I think what’s keeping me inspired during all of this is just seeing all my friends and producers keep pushing out music as well and just getting involved with the EDM community more. So many bigger named artists are trying to stay in touch with their fan base to the best they can and seeing that just makes me happy and want to push me to do better.

3. Many people might be scared or living in fear. What is a message of encouragement you can leave them with to motivate a more peaceful mindset?

In the end, everything will go back to normal. Until then just keep your head up and your eye on the prize. Sure we may be limited to certain things, but try to make do with what you have right in front of you. We have phones, computers, and what not to still keep us connected to our friends and family.

4. What are you most looking forward to when we no longer have to live our lives social distancing from one another?

Heading home to my mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa, hanging out with the people I could get a hold of, and going back to the shows we all love.

Stay safe and healthy. You're not alone. We will get through this stronger, more aware, and with far more compassion, empathy, and gratitude.
